Please find the below checklists for the request documents to process your visa application.

Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 143)

Note: We have considered all your above positions as full-time (at least 20 hours a week) paid employment unless you advise otherwise.

Forms Required:

  • Form 956 Advice by a migration agent/exempt person of providing immigration assistance
  • Form 47PA Application for a parent to migrate to Australia
  • Form 40 Sponsorship for migration to Australia (to be completed by Sponsor)
  • Form 47A Details of child or other dependent family member aged 18 years or ove
NOTE: If you already hold a Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173) and your circumstances have not changed since you were granted that visa, pay the visa application charge and provide only the following documents:
  • Form 956 Advice by a migration agent/exempt person of providing immigration assistance
  • Form 47PT Application for migration to Australia by a Contributory Parent (Temporary) or Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa holder.
  • Form 40 Sponsorship for migration to Australia (completed by Sponsor)

Applicant(s):

  • Clear copy of current passport
  • Identity Documents (If applicable)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of change of name (if any)
  • Evidence of Marriage/ De facto relationship (joint bank accounts, statements, major assets).
  • Evidence of financial dependency for all members of your family unit aged 18 or older:
    • Birth Certificate and proof that they live in your household
    • If they are not your partners, proof that they have been financially dependent on you for at least the 12 months immediately before you lodge your application.
  • Meet the balance of family- test requirement –
    • proof your relationship with each of your children
    • proof your child or children live permanently in Australia
    • at least half of your children live permanently in Australia
  • Additional Documents may be requested:
    • Overseas Police clearance certificate (only when requested)
    • Assurance of Support
    • Other documents
  • Dependent Children
    • Clear copy of current passport
    • Birth Certificate of all children (even if they are not joining you in Australia.)
    • Overseas Police clearance certificate (children above 16 years of age)
  • *If you want to bring a child younger than 18 years of age with you to Australia, and that child’s other parent is not included in the application:
    • Complete Statutory Declaration form
    • Form 1229 Consent form to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years
  • Current passport of other parent not included in application

  • **If you want to bring a child older than 18 years of age with you to Australia
    • Complete Form 47a
    • Child’s birth certificate
    • Adoption papers or parental court orders (if applicable)

Sponsor:

Must be 18 years and above, and a settled Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen)

  • Birth Certificate to prove relationship
  • Marriage certificate (if sponsored by child’s spouse)
  • Evidence of family relationship (if sponsored by relative)
  • Evidence of guardianship
  • Evidence of your relationship with a community organisation (if sponsored by community organisation)
    • Certificate of registration
    • Evidence that the organisation’s representative has authority to act on behalf of the organisation
    • Evidence of their financial capacity to support after arrival in Australia.
    • Any other evidence of the relationship between child and the sponsor.

Letter of support to provide support to your parents (and ANY accompanying family members) in the first two years of residency in Australia.
